       Shawl Weaving Artisan - Wet Processing

       Practice scouring on wool, silk and jute fibers

       Objectives : At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
       •  scouring on wool, silk and jute.


         Requirements
          Tools/equipment’s/Instruments
          •  Gas stove                      - 1 No.         •  Lab thermometer                   - 1 No.
          •  Stainless steel beaker         - 1 No.         •  Glass/metal stirring rods         - 1 No.
         •  Soda ash                        - as reqd.      Materials
         •  Washing and soaping agent       - as reqd.      •  Wool yarn hanks                   - as reqd.

       PROCEDURE

       TASK 1: Scouring on wool

       TASK 2: Scouring on silk

       1  Take a silk sample and soak it with water.        8  Turn off the gas stove and let the silk sample soak in
                                                               the solution for 15-30 minutes.

          be enough so that the entire sample is dipped into it).  9  Now take the sample out of the beaker and wash it

       TASK 3: Scouring on jute
